Colorado Peptide Field Guide

GUIDE / NOT A CLINIC

Product one / approved medicine

Approval belongs to an exact product and use

A familiar ingredient name is not enough. How it is given, the product name, and the reason for use all matter.

Named examples

Some widely known injections are peptide medicines

In September 2026, FDA-approved medicines included semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound).

The brand beside a generic name matters because products can differ in how they are given and in their approved uses. A care claim still has to match the exact product.

Approval can answer

Whether the agency reviewed that finished product for a named use.

Approval cannot answer

Whether it fits one person’s health, goals, or other medicines.

Approval does not cover a look-alike

FDA approval for one product does not cover a made-to-order or research-labelled product with a similar ingredient.

Sharing an ingredient does not transfer FDA approval from one product to another.

At the visit

Ask for the name before the pitch

A clear conversation names the exact medicine and the purpose being discussed. It also leaves room for questions about other health conditions, current medicines, follow-up, and what would make the plan change.
